The 2027 State HIT Connect Conference convenes at a defining moment in the evolution of America's health and human services ecosystem. Over the past year, the federal landscape has undergone one of its most significant transformations in decades. The establishment of the CMS Office of Health Technology and Products (OHTP) has elevated digital product delivery, interoperability, artificial intelligence, and enterprise technology modernization as strategic priorities for CMS.
Working alongside ASTP/ONC, which continues to lead national health IT policy, interoperability standards, and trusted data exchange, OHTP is accelerating the operational implementation of modern, API-driven, person-centered digital services across Medicare, Medicaid, and the broader healthcare ecosystem.

Building Trusted Health Data Exchange at Scale: Leveraging National Interoperability Infrastructure for State Health Innovation

As states continue modernizing health information exchange, Medicaid programs, public health systems, and CMS-aligned initiatives, the challenge is no longer simply exchanging data—it is exchanging trusted, secure, and usable data at scale.
Join leaders from State HIT Connect, HL7 FAST, the HL7 Da Vinci Project, and the Sequoia Project for an educational discussion on how national interoperability initiatives are converging to create the infrastructure needed for the next generation of healthcare transformation.
This session will demonstrate how FAST provides the trust infrastructure for identity, security, consent, directories, and testing; how Da Vinci operationalizes payer-provider workflows that reduce administrative burden and improve care coordination; and how Sequoia’s Interoperability Matters Initiative helps ensure that exchanged data is complete, reliable, and fit for clinical and operational use.
Together, these complementary efforts provide states with a practical roadmap for implementing scalable, standards-based interoperability that aligns with evolving CMS and ONC priorities.
